Beeper Mac
Does Beeper import message history?
Currently no past message history is synced, only new iMessages will be synced.
Do we need a jailbroken iPhone or a Mac?
No. For users who do not have access to a Mac computer to use as a gateway, we offer a Cloud Hosted iMessage bridge. We operate a fleet of Mac Mini servers. For each Beeper user, we create a new Mac OS user account on a single Mac Mini server.
How to send/receive messages from a phone number?
For users who have an active SIM and an iPhone, once you enable SMS forwarding during the setup you should be able to send/receive messages as a phone number on iMessage vs. just the Apple ID.
How does one get an Apple Id?
In case you don’t have an existing Apple Id, you can sign up for one from https://appleid.apple.com
What about security?
When you connect Beeper to our Cloud-Hosted iMessage bridge, your Apple ID credentials are sent directly to this account, and your credentials are used to sign in to iCloud contacts and iMessage. Your credentials are never stored, logged, or cached. All other iCloud services are explicitly disabled, both in terms of authentication and by preventing them from running in the first place.
Each home directory has 700 filesystem permissions, meaning no user can see into any other container. A very limited set of Beeper employees have access to the machines, and we do not share any information stored on them.
In the event you'd like to delete your Cloud Hosted iMessage bridge, all files are immediately deleted from the account on the Mac Mini server and your account is permanently removed from the machine.
